Apple just announced the second generation AirPods after months leaks and rumors. The new AirPods retain the same design language from its previous earbuds while adding a bunch of new things. The new AirPods are compatible with Qi wireless charging case and feature “Hey Siri” support. Under the hood, the second generation AirPods are powered by a new H1 wireless chip for better performance and power efficiency. Also, the adoption of the new chip allows for improved music quality and better noise cancellation. Apple says that users can quickly switch AirPods connection between an iPhone and a Mac thanks to a new wireless chip inside.
As for the charging case, the second-generation AirPods offer up to 24 hours of listening time, which is pretty impressive when compared to the first-gen earbuds. However, the Qi-wireless charging case will not come bundled with the AirPods 2 at launch, meaning that you need to buy it separately. Apple confirmed that the new AirPods with the standard charging case will be available for $159, while the earbuds with wireless charging case will retail for $199. The second generation AirPods are set for March 27 release, but the delivery date is slightly delayed.
Apple says that the new AirPods will be pushed back to April 2 to April 5. However, pre-order for the AirPods are now live at Apple’s website. In reality, the new AirPods does not bring about new exciting features and updates. Rumors previously claimed that the new AirPods would feature health features and a new black color.
Apple is also expected to announce the released date of AirPower. Apple’s charging mat was first debuted back in 2017 and set for 2018 release. However, it was nowhere to be found. However, we are expecting to see the charging mat at this year’s March event. Apple officially confirmed the date of its March event. Besides, the Cupertino firm sent out invites to the world press for its upcoming event. At this year’s March event, Apple will announce new software updates to its iOS, macOS, and watchOS. Also, there will be a new HomePod and a new iMac Pro at the event.
