Apple expanded ECG support to Europe in watchOS 5.2

Apple

Apple Watch is one of the best-selling smartwatches on the market. The secret behind Apple Watch’s huge success lies in its exciting features and optimized watchOS. WatchOS now powers hundreds of millions of Apple Watch units out there. Last year, Apple announced WatchOS 5 with a slew of new changes and improvements. One of the biggest additions to WatchOS 5 is the ECG app (electrocardiogram). However, the feature is only available for Apple Watch Series 4. In reality, the ECG functionality was not ready until the release of WatchOS 5.1.2 software update. However, the feature appeared for US users only.

Earlier this month, Apple unveiled iOS 12.2 update that hints at a wider rollout of the ECG app. Specifically, the ECG app will be available across Europe. The Cupertino firm today made it possible with the release of watchOS 5.2. In reality, the new update does not bring about a significant change as it focuses on bug fixes and performance boost. Apple confirms that the ECG app will arrive for up to 19 countries worldwide, including France, Spain, Germany, the UK, Italy, and more. The feature is still exclusive to Apple Watch Series 4 while Series 3 get an improved heart notification feature.

WatchOS 5.2 update also includes support for Apple New+, a magazine and news subscription service, and for the second-generation AirPods. Apple recently announced a number of new services, one of which includes TV Plus, a new video-streaming service. Apple confirmed that the TV Plus will launch to the public this fall, but pricing has not been announced yet. However, sources say that Apple TV Plus will start at $9,99 per month.

Apple TV Plus will include original content from creators in Hollywood. Apple says that the company now has over 12 shows in the works. Also, Apple TV Plus will support all of Apple devices out there, from iPad to Mac. Apple is expected to expand its service to more smart TVs from Samsung, Sony, and LG later this year. Apple will hold its annual WWDC event in June where it is expected to announce a bunch of hardware including a new MacBook Pro and an iMac Pro.
