Apple opens new developer academy in Jakarta, Indonesia

Apple is one of the biggest companies in the world. Apple’s mighty iPhone hits hundreds of millions of units sold every quarter. During the first quarter of 2018, the Cupertino company was the number one smartphone maker on the market, beating Samsung and Sony. Apple posted a revenue of $88.3 billion in the first three months of the year, making it an unbeatable rival out there.

Apple is showing the world that it’s not just about smartphones and MacBook laptops. The company keeps expanding its business to other sectors, in an attempt to get more profit and spread its influence worldwide. Reports say that Apple officially opened its first developer academy in Indonesia.

This is the company’s first academic center in Asia. In reality, this won’t come as a surprise, as Apple was previously rumored to open a new development facility in Asia. Earlier this year, rumors claimed that Apple would open an R&D center in India, and the company was in talks with the Indian government.

In reality, India is one of Apple’s biggest markets. The company’s iPhone SE is currently the hottest iPhone models in the country. Reports have suggested that Apple will launch the second generation iPhone SE, and target India only. This means that the device will carry a cheaper price tag.

According to reports, Apple’s new academy will focus on innovation development in Indonesia, offering students more options to access Apple’s high technologies. Back in 2016, Apple hosted its developer academy in the University of Naples, in Italy. The class included 200 Italian students and aimed to teach them how to code for Apple’s devices.

The new academy in Indonesia is now hosting 75 students from Binus University in Jakarta. Each of those students will be tasked with accessing Apple’s Objective-C and Swift programming languages.

According to reports, Apple is planning to open more academies worldwide. Education has been Apple’s main focus in recent years. Last month, Apple held an education event in the US where marked the release of new 9.7 inch iPad. We are expecting Apple to bring its iOS Developer Program to more countries this year.
