We have seen an intense competition among smartwatch makers in recent years. The smartwatch market is showing no sign of slowdown, as hundreds of millions of units are sold every year. According to latest data, Apple Watch with LTE now dominates the market, with more than 20 million units shipped in Q1/2018.
Fitbit is one of the biggest names in the smartwatch market. The American firm is doing pretty well in business. For the first three months of the year, the American smartwatch maker owned 8.7% of the smartwatch market, a slight drop when compared to the same period in 2017. Apple Watch grabbed the number one position in the first three months of the year, with 4 million Apple Watches shipped.
Earlier this year, the American firm announced a new smartwatch called Versa, the successor to the Fitbit Blaze. The wearable device takes some design hints from Apple Watch and Pebble watches. With the Versa smartwatch, Fitbit puts a lot of love into fitness and health features, just like what Apple does with Apple Watch.
The Versa smartwatch is now available worldwide in 4 color options including Black, Rose Gold, and Silver. According to Fitbit, the company has been working on new color options for the device and will release new software updates for the device in the coming months.
Fitbit has just confirmed that the company’s Versa smartwatch shipments hit more than one million units since the mid-April release. One of the best things when it comes to Fitbit wearable devices lies in its female health tracking. The company announced that more than 2.4 million users have used the feature since the release date. The feature is also available for Android users, meaning that they can pair their Android phones with Fitbit-branded wearable devices.
Just like Samsung, the American smartwatch firm has been developing its own wearable OS for years. Fitbit claims that third-party developers have been updating their apps so that they can work with Fitbit OS. According to Fitbit, users will be able to access more than 900 apps and clock faces with their Fitbit smartwatches.
