Last year, Apple introduced its new Bluetooth wireless earphones called AirPods, which replace the traditional earbuds. There’s no doubt the new AirPods do a lot of stuff better than its predecessor thanks to Apple’s own new W1 chip.
One of the best things with the new AirPods is that you can easily control them by using Apple’s virtual helper, Siri. However, Siri requires Internet connectivity to show her magic, which is a little annoying. This means that you cannot control your new earbuds when you are on the go. Fortunately, there is a simple workaround that allows you to make some voice control with your AirPods when you are offline.
In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to use your new AirPods when you are offline.
Steps to enable Voice Control
You can easily use your voice to control your music on your iPhone even when you disable Siri from the Settings app. Here is how you can do this
Step one: First off, you need to launch the Settings app from your home screen and tap General to proceed
Step two: Once you are done, scroll down a little bit and tap Accessibility. After that, all you need to do is to tap Home button under the Interaction category
Step three: Next up, you are now supposed to tap Voice Control under the Press and Hold to speak section. Once you are done, you now can use your voice to control your device.
Steps to change AirPods’ double-tap gesture
If you only need to play and pause music when you are offline, you can easily change the double-tap gesture to play and pause music. Here is how you can do this.
Step one: You first need to launch the Settings app from your home screen and tap Bluetooth to proceed
Step two: Next up, tap on the i button next to the menu item for your AirPods
Step three: All you need to do now is to tap Play/Pause to complete the task
