Apple iPhone ranks among the most desired smartphones out there. Apple has been adding new features and changes to its iPhone lineup since the day one in an attempt to take on other rivals on the market. Last year, Apple launched three new iPhone models, including iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Three new iPhone models satisfy users and tech experts worldwide, thanks to their exciting features.
According to the latest data from Strategy Analytics, Apple iPhone X was the most popular phone in the first quarter of 2018. Sources say Apple iPhone shipments hit 16 million units in the first three months of the year. This comes as a surprise, as iPhone X was previously rumored to be replaced by a new model this year due to poor sales performance.
iPhone X is a special iPhone to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Apple’s mighty iPhone. The device marked the first time Apple adopted a flexible OLED panel for its iPhones. The iPhone X carried a staggering $999 price tag at launch, making it the most expensive iPhone model ever released to the public.
According to some reports, the iPhone 8 was the second-most popular phone in the first three months of the year, with 12.5 millions of units shipped. The iPhone 8 features an identical design with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but Apple upgraded the hardware, with new processor and camera. However, iPhone 8 Plus failed to live up to expectations, with only 8.3 million units shipped during the same period.
The 2016 iPhone 7 model came in fourth in the first quarter of the year. Apple shipped more than 6 millions of units during the period. Apple apparently dominated the smartphone market in the first three months of the year. Apple’s main rival, Samsung shipped only 5.3 million Galaxy S9 units.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus failed to satisfy users and experts worldwide, due to their same old design. The Chinese smartphone makers are showing a steady growth in phone shipments. Huawei and Xiaomi are best known for offering high-quality phones at low cost. The Redmi 5A came in fifth in Q1/2018 with 5.4 millions of units sold.
