WhatsApp is now the most popular messaging service in the world with more than one billion users. WhatsApp allows users to send text messages, images, GIFs, audio files, documents and more to others. In February 2017, Facebook-owned messaging service introduced a Snapchat-like feature called Status. Basically, when you share your photos and videos with all of your contacts, they will be there for 24 hours before disappearing.
However, when you share a photo or video through WhatsApp Status, all of your contacts can view it without your permission. If you don’t want everyone to see your photos or videos, you can easily choose who can view your WhatsApp Status on your iPhone thanks to WhatsApp officially adding an option to set the privacy of your WhatsApp Status right within the app.
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to choose who can view your WhatsApp Status on your iPhone. Before proceeding with our step-by-step guide, head to the App Store and update the app.
Steps to limit the people who can view your WhatsApp Status on your iPhone
Step one: First off, you need to launch WhatsApp from your iPhone’s home screen and make sure that the Settings tab is selected before proceeding
Step two: Next up, scroll down a little bit and tap Account and then hit Privacy. Once you are in, you need to tap Status and move to the next step
Step three: Here, you can choose who can view your WhatsApp Status. You will be presented with three options including My Contacts, My Contacts Expert and Only Share With. Select your option
That’s it! From now on, photos and videos you share through WhatsApp Status will be restricted to the contacts you chose. If you change your mind, you can repeat the above process and select My Contacts option at the top.
