Sony is one of the biggest names in the industry. The Japanese firm is having a hard time selling its smartphones on the market, and the company has a lot of work to do to improve its devices. Back in April 2018, Sony officially announced the Xperia XZ2 Premium following months of endless rumors and reports.
As the name implies, the Xperia XZ2 Premium belongs to the top-tier smartphone segment. The device is expected to be Sony’s strategic plan to reclaim some market ground it has lost to Apple and Samsung. The device comes with a number of exciting features like a 4K HDR display and a MotionEye Dual camera.
Basically, the Xperia XZ2 Premium offers stunning photos in low-light conditions. This helps the device stand in line with other rivals on the market. According to Sony, the Xperia XZ2 Premium will begin shipping to US-based users starting on July 30 following the unveiling event.
Sources say that the device will carry a staggering $999.99 in the US, making it one of the most expensive flagship phones on the market. Users will be able to pre-order the device on Amazon and BestBuy’s websites. The coolest part is that users will be able to grab a new pair of Sony’s Xperia Ear Duo wireless headphones for every purchase of the phone at Amazon.
When it comes to specs, the Xperia XZ2 Premium is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. Basically, the new device ranks among the most powerful smartphones on the market. The XZ2 Premium features a 5.8-inch display with 4K resolution. The device has 64GB of internal storage and a dual-camera setup on the back.
Sony-branded phones are pretty reliable when it comes to cameras. With the XZ2 Premium, a dual-camera setup offers a much-improved picture quality, thanks to its main 19-megapixel sensor and 12-megapixel lens.
Sources say that Sony has been working on two new flagship phones for years. The Japanese firm is expected to release them later this year to compete directly with Apple’s new iPhone models and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 9.
